Nobby
Born in a undertakers cellar down in Collyhurst park
Was a tough little kid that, in football would make his mark
Spotted at a young age by the manager Matt
Of the greatest football side of the time, that is fact
His job wasn’t to score goals I’m told?
Just to keep the opponents on lockdown and on hold.
Nevertheless he scored 19 times in a 11 year Manchester career and still in his prime.
His greatest day was keeping Eusébio at bay
Earning his place in the line up for the World Cup final match day
England were triumphant on that day in July 1966
Germany still lost even with “ handball” free kicks
Nobby took to the pitch for his victory dance
With his teeth and the Jules Rimet hand in hand
His managerial career took him to Canada 🇨🇦 and back
To be the head coach for the Vancouver Whitecaps.
Preston and West Brom and back with the MUFC youth team
This was the last place his coaching skills were ever seen
In 2000 he was awarded his MBE to total 5 stars from his amazing World Cup victory
I have heard that all his medals were sold?
Let’s hope his family benefitted at least 10 fold?
Unfortunately his health took a turn for the worse
With Dementia and prostate cancer curse
Today, this great man was taken away and hopefully he can pass on his knowledge when the heavenly team play?
